... Is built near the top of Cholomonta at an altitude of 650 meters. Tradition connects him with the Holy Mountain and in particular the Athos monastery and the dependency of the Archangel Michael was the abbey in the village. The previous name was Lokovi and officially named Taxiarhis in 1928.

It lies 25 km from Polygyros and basis of the 2001 census, the population amounts to 1078 people. The residents are involved in logging, production of firewood and agricultural crops and livestock. Famous are also the builders, the stonecutters and artisans of Taxiarhis who work across Halkidiki. Some women engaged in weaving, knitting and embroidery, while a significant proportion of income derived from the cultivation of fir for Christmas trees. As for sightseeing, mountain crossing Cholomonta enables visitors to enjoy the dense forest full of oaks, beeches, chestnuts, oaks, pines, firs and a variety of trees, shrubs, wildflowers and herbs, and the views offered in some areas is unique. An indication the Mpara, Apolimeni Stone, Pasha's well, Shismeni Petra, the wild area of Arkoudolakas.

The attractions of Taxiarhis Sipotoura big fountain at the entrance of the village, Well Below the stone square, domed basilica church, the ecclesiastical museum, Hani, a number of traditionally built houses and numerous churches and chapels scattered in and around the village.

The religious and social life of the village find their expression in a series of celebrations, festivals, rites and ceremonies. The festivals each year are the Archangel are:

Finally,Taxiarchis has touristic interest in winter and summer. There is ever growing infrastructure for the hosting of visitors to houses and hostels with all amenities. The marking of old paths, the itinerant-making trekking routes for hiking, horseback riding, bike paths, habitats, areas controlled hunting and farming game, climbing and mountaineering as well as famous restaurants in the area, attracting more and more the interest of foreign visitors.
